An individual who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and 10.
The accused was detained after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on recently.
Nevertheless, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She explained Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including lubricant, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his family member alerted the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained Ruben continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the events.
The prosecutor explained the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the police once more.
She stated Ruben then played the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
